Grace Vanderwaal Review
Moonlight by Grace Vanderwaal is a relatively decent song. The lyrics are very relatable to all generations, despite her being so young, and portray the idea of the intense happiness that comes from being with someone you love effortlessly. The overall quality of the song is diminished slightly by the fact that the song stays at about the same tempo throughout its entirety and never really picks up, or contains any sort of beat drop or change. Moonlight leaves you waiting for that great lyric of bridge that never comes. Another unfortunate thing, is that even though it is a feel good song it isn’t fast enough to dance to which is a key aspect, at least for me, when it comes to choosing songs. The best part about Moonlight is by far Vanderwaal’s signature voice that resonates well with the lyrics and her ever so present ukulele. While the song may be a bit underdeveloped and naive lyrically, it still captures that quirky Grace Vanderwaal spirit that was showcased on America’s Got Talent and that continues to shine in every song she produces. With my many conflicting opinions in each aspect of the Moonlight, I would definitely recommend listening for yourself before excluding this from your playlists for good.

Saving Forever is not your average boy band. They are a band of three brothers that have an amazing and unique sound and style. It’s no wonder why their song Million Ways is a hit with their combination of amazing vocals and the fact that they play their own instruments. It’s catchy chorus mixed with a fun beat just makes you want to sing and dance every time you hear it. Also the music video is is a cool spin on your average “band performs on stage” video because it is set at this cool club where people are shown singing it as if it was a karaoke party. Also the boys unique style adds a special visual element to the video. Honestly, the reason why this band is so incredible is because they do not conform to your typical cookie cutter boy band standards. With influences like Fall Out Boy, Panic! At the Disco, and Paramore it is no wonder why these guys have such unique sound and are overall just so talented. I can definitely recommend that you check them out because they can only get better from here.

La La Land’s city of stars is a catchy musical number that will have you singing and dancing where ever you go. Its soft piano accompaniment played by Ryan Gosling himself sets the mood of the scene perfectly. Its playful tone and hopeful lyrics will let you imagine what its like to be in love. While the song’s old Hollywood jazz feel will transport the listener back in time and will have them foot taping along to the beat. The passion of starving musicians, Mia and Sebastian, is evident in this piece. The Characters sing of their hopes and accomplishing their dreams even when they seem unreachable. Their persistence and drive to succeed shows, throughout the different reprises of this delightful tune. Though the actor’s voices themselves were a bit of a disappointment, the overall message of the song and the beautiful melody are what ultimately make the song a hit. City of Stars will make you want to follow your dreams and pursue them even when they seem impossible. With the soundtracks star studded cast and its exceptionally well written songs it’s no wonder why La La Land took home so many Oscars and has became a new favorite of film lovers everywhere.
